The Task Of Reading
A.
By Colin Rose (2002):
Speedreading is skillveryusefulforpurposesof skimming andunderstanding quickly andusually prevents us from boredom.Speed reading is the act of quickly absorbing
written information. The goal is to read quickly but still retain comprehension
of the material. The rate at which people read material is not a constant and
varies greatly depending on several factors. Some material, such as school work
or manuals, may require more contemplation and fewer distractions in order to
process and still understand what is being conveyed. Being able to read ten
books in a single day is useless if the reader is unable to retain
comprehension of the material.
Skimming
is used to get the
main idea of a text. To find out whether an article in accordance with what we
are looking for. To assess the article, is interesting to read further in
detail. Speed reading is skimming is usually about 3-4 times faster than
normal reading.
Scanning is used to obtain specific information from
a text. Typically, this is done if you already know exactly what you're looking
to concentrate on looking for specific answers.
C. Methods
1. Capture and identify the word-
In
the process of reading, the eye acts as a catch senses of words in reading
material. The words are then sent to the brain to be recognized as a
vocabulary, a group of words, or understanding a sentence.
2. Practice Eye Movement Speed
After practicing speed accurately recognize the words, now we will begin to acceleratetraining of eye movements. In the process of reading a person do with a catch word for word or even syllable by syllable.
